I am a decendent of Francis (born 1854) and Crawford (1852) Wimberly of Camilla, GA (Mitchell Co). I have noticed that several people have put that they have Wimberly ties to the area. We are in the process of the final arrangements for a family reunion for the descendants of this couple. There are several grandchildren that are still alive (my grandmother at 90 is one of the youngest living grandchildren!!!) that have direct memories of this couple as well of their aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Every year we try to make a video tape interview with all of the remaining grandchildren to confirm/correct any information that we have researched over the past year. I'm sure that this could help a LOT of you who are looking for information. My mother and her cousins have managed to get a pretty complete history of the family using Francis and Crawford as a starting point. The family reunion is scheduled this year (2005) for the July 4th week-end in Camilla, GA. Please feel free to e-mail me for details or if you would like to pick my brain for possible information on the Wimberly family (African-American) in this area of Georgia. Submitted by Hillery A.
